Free diagnostic for HVAC & plumbing businesses
Keep, Optimize or Switch Your Field Service Software?
Find out in about a minute whether your current software is really the problem — and what to do next. Switching is expensive, so we only recommend it when the facts support it.
3 quick steps · no email required to see results · no software yet? It finds your first system too · 5 products tracked with dated sources
What your free diagnostic gives you
- A clear verdict: keep, optimize or switch. Including when not to switch — and why.
- A checklist for your current software. Built from what the vendor's own website documents, never guessed.
- The best-supported alternatives. Up to two, with the key differences and real published prices.
- What to confirm before you sign. Personalized questions for vendor demos and quotes.
Three possible answers — and what you get with each
The diagnostic looks at your team, your problems and what each vendor documents, then gives one of these verdicts.
Keep
Your software already covers what you need. We say so, explain why, and show what to check once a year.
Optimize
What you're missing may be a setting, a plan or an add-on in the software you already pay for. You get a checklist built from the vendor's own information.
Switch
When another product is documented to cover what yours can't, you see the best-supported alternatives, the key differences and what to confirm before you sign.
Not enough documented facts to decide? The diagnostic says so and tells you exactly what to ask the vendor.

Why our recommendations are different
Business first
We start with your operations — team size, accounting, workflow — not with a vendor list.
Explainable scores
Every score breaks down into dimensions and requirements you can check against the source.
Unknown stays unknown
We never invent prices, features or integrations. Missing data lowers confidence, not your options.
“Keep” is a valid answer
If your current software works, we say so — and show you how to get more from it.
Recommendations based on your needs, not commissions
Partner and commission data is kept out of the matching engine entirely.
No sales call required
Get the full result without talking to anyone. Vendor contact only if you ask for it.
Guides
- Choosing Field Service Software by Technician CountAt 1–2 technicians, simple scheduling, quoting and payments matter most. At 3–5, dispatching and accounting sync become essential. At 6–10, service agreements, reporting and user roles matter. Beyond 10, look at multi-location, advanced reporting and inventory. Published user limits also change price: Jobber publishes plans to 15 users, Housecall Pro includes 1, 5 or 8 users by plan.
- Keep, Optimize or Switch? How to Decide About Your Field Service SoftwareKeep your software if it covers your must-haves and the team is reasonably satisfied. Optimize if what you're missing is documented in your current product — on another plan, as an add-on or through setup. Switch only when a must-have is genuinely unavailable in your current software and an alternative documents it. Time any switch around your contract renewal and outside your busy season, and get the migration scope in writing.
- QuickBooks Integration in Field Service Software: Online vs. DesktopAll five products we track document a QuickBooks Online integration, but plan requirements and setup differ. QuickBooks Desktop is where they diverge: Jobber has no Desktop sync; Housecall Pro and Workiz sync one way with version requirements; FieldPulse supports Windows Desktop with conflicting minimum versions across help articles; ServiceTitan's Desktop setup goes through your Customer Success Manager.
- Scheduling and Dispatching Requirements: A Checklist for Service BusinessesGood scheduling software lets the office build and change a day quickly, notify customers automatically and give technicians everything they need on their phone. Dispatching becomes a must-have at about three technicians. Verify GPS, route optimization and online booking on the specific plan you would buy.
- What Field Service Software Really Costs (and What Vendors Don't Publish)Subscription price is only part of the cost. Add per-user charges, plan upgrades needed for must-have features, add-ons, payment processing fees, onboarding, data migration and training time. Of the five products we track, only Jobber and Housecall Pro publish prices; ServiceTitan, Workiz and FieldPulse require a quote.
Frequently asked questions
Is the assessment really free with no sign-up?
Yes. You see your recommendations without entering an email. Saving a private report link, emailing it, or asking a vendor to contact you are optional and require your explicit permission.
How do you make money?
We may earn commissions from some software vendors when a business we refer becomes their customer. Commission data is stored separately and is not an input to fit scores. Today, no partner program is active.
Where does your software data come from?
From vendors' official pricing pages, product pages and help centers, checked automatically. Each fact shows its source and the date we checked it. If we could not find something in an official source, we show it as not confirmed — never as missing. Facts reviewed by a human editor are labeled separately.
What does Keep, Optimize or Switch mean?
Keep: your current software already handles what you need. Optimize: what you're missing appears to be available in your current software, possibly on another plan or with setup — so fix that first. Switch: an alternative is documented to cover what your software can't. If we can't tell, we say what needs to be confirmed.
Will you tell me to keep my current software?
Yes, when that is the right answer. Switching costs time and money, so the diagnostic recommends it only when another product is documented to solve a problem yours can't.
I don't use any software yet. Is this for me?
Yes. The same three questions recommend up to two systems that fit your team, budget and accounting setup.
Trust and transparency
We do not publish ratings, reviews or testimonials we cannot verify. We do not claim to have tested products we have not tested. Every vendor fact links to its source.
